KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: The Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate Inspection Department in the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition conducted a periodic tour to take random samples from several food establishments in Sabhan Industrial Area, reports Al-Rai daily.

The tour resulted in the confiscation of about 700 kilograms of expired meat and uncovered violations such as failure to comply with the standard specifications. It also led to the issuance of citations for various violations like noncompliance with health regulations, incorrect preparation of foodstuffs, lack of commitment to public sanitation regulations, poor storage of foodstuffs, lack of commitment to health and technical requirements in some facilities, and failure to close sanitation chutes.

The inspectors of the department issued warnings to control violations and made arrangements for proper disposal of confiscated food items, in preparation for referral of violators to the Public Prosecution.

The inspectors checked the level of compliance to health regulations among the establishments and the health certificates of workers. Legal measures were taken against three establishments, including the decision to close them, the department revealed.

Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) has approved the transfer of supervision over Jahra National Park to the National Council of Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), reports Al-Jarida daily.
