KUWAIT CITY, Nov 22: The Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) has stopped disbursing fodder subsidies to animal breeders because they have failed to pay the annual farm rents owed to the authority, in a move to urge them to speed up the payment, reports Al-Rai daily. Well-informed PAAAFR sources said a ‘block’ has been placed on the files of animal breeders in the authority and all administrative procedures in this regard have been stopped, including stopping the disbursement of fodder subsidies until they pay the rents.

The sources explained there are hundreds of animal breeders in Wafra, Kabd and Jahra who have not paid the rents for several years, although the rent for one year is only 100 dinars. PAAAFR is allegedly counting the number of farm owners in these areas who did not take the initiative to pay their annual rents in preparation to cut off the power supply after the expiry period of Nov 30, 2021, to pay the rent.
