KUWAIT CITY, March 12: Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali revealed that more than 47,000 expatriates were arrested from various areas of Kuwait during the security campaigns carried out by the sector in the past three months, reports Al- Rai daily.

He affirmed that these campaigns have resulted in reduction of the crime rate and application of the law throughout the country particularly in areas with large number of people of certain nationalities who were under the impression that the law did not apply to them. Major General Al-Ali explained that 6,000 of the total 47,000 arrested expatriates were deported in accordance with legal procedures.

About 60 percent of the seized individuals were released on the spot after their records were checked, 30 percent were referred to the concerned authorities either for investigation or because they were wanted by law and 10 percent of them were marginal workers who were referred to the deportation center.
