Ministerial panel on food security set

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: The Cabinet held a meeting Monday afternoon at Seif Palace headed by His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister. After the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Muhammad Abdul Latif Al-Faris stated the following:

The Cabinet discussed the recommendations of the Economic Affairs Committee regarding the visual presentation submitted by the Ministry of Trade and Industry regarding food security 2022, which dealt with an explanation of the details related to the high levels of food prices and the government’s role in facing the rise in global prices in addition to the risks facing food security in the State of Kuwait at the same time, in light of the continuing crisis resulting from the Corona virus and the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The Council of Ministers decided to form a ministerial committee in the Council called Committee to Strengthen the Food Security System and headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Oil and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, with the membership of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of Finance, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development, Minister of Electricity and Water, and entrusted to it To consider all issues related to food and water security in the State of Kuwait.

■ Examine the proposals submitted by the various authorities in order to secure, strengthen and develop the food and water security system in the country.

■ Supervise the follow-up of the efforts made by the government agencies concerned with dealing with the food security system in the country and directing them as required by the higher interest of the country.

■ Lay the main pillars for developing and unifying efforts aimed at preserving local national security, especially those related to water and food, and discussing ways to reach the stage of food self-sufficiency in the State of Kuwait.

■ Establish the appropriate mechanism to avoid the possible consequences or consequences associated with any global or local crises or disasters that would prejudice the food and water security system.

Situation
On the other hand, of its meeting the Cabinet followed up the health situation related to the spread of the Monkeypox Virus (monkeypox) in a number of countries in the world and within the framework of the government’s keenness to take precautionary and preventive measures to avoid the transmission of this virus to the State of Kuwait.

The Ministry of Health, Assistant to Public Health, Dr. Buthaina Abdullah Al-Mudhaf, and Director of the Public Health Department, Dr. Muhammad Al-Saedan, about the details related to this disease and the measures taken by the Ministry in coordination with the concerned authorities to confront this disease and prevent the transmission of infection. The Cabinet confirmed that the State of Kuwait is free of any infections with this disease, praise be to God. The Council affirmed that all necessary precautionary measures are taken by the Ministry of Health and the relevant government agencies, noting that the health authorities are very keen on the safety of the citizen. and residents, and follow-up on the evolution of the spread of this disease.

In light of the official announcement of the final results of the Municipal Council elections that took place last Saturday, corresponding to May 21, 2022, the Council of Ministers expressed its deep thanks to the judiciary and all those who participated in the electoral process among the employees of the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Health, the Kuwait Municipality and the public fire department for their sincere efforts and active participation in preparing and arranging for these elections, which were characterized by efficiency and the creation of the appropriate atmosphere for citizens to elect members of the Municipal Council with ease and appreciating the great awareness of citizens that was embodied in their commitment to the regulations and instructions during the voting process, which reflected the civilized face of the State of Kuwait.
