Ministry opens main monitoring and control room

KUWAIT CITY, March 8: Minister of Social Affairs and Societal Development, Dr Mishaan Al-Otaibi, affirmed all ministry officials must take urgent steps to facilitate and provide all requirements of citizens and residents in light of the current conditions the country is going through and wished safety for all. During the opening of the ministry’s main monitoring and control room, Al-Otaibi called for regulating and monitoring the strategic stocks for cooperative societies, at the same time ensuring safety for everyone and to limit the spread of the coronavirus, stressing on the application of health requirements, especially social distancing and wearing face masks. Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Musallam Al-Subaie, confirmed the readiness of the sectors of ministry to implement the Cabinet’s decision during the partial ban which began from Sunday.

Emergency
He said since the country is exposed to the corona pandemic, the ministry has developed a strategic emergency plan to deal with all circumstances that the country may face during this epidemic since the Ministry of Social Affairs is a service ministry that deals with many segments of society but at the same time he stressed on the readiness of the ministry to deal with any emergency during the application of the partial ban and even if the country opts for a total ban if the concerned authorities deem fit.

On the extent of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ preparations to implement the partial ban, Al-Subaie explained the ministry’s plan aims primarily to ensure that strategic food stocks are secured in cooperative societies in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and to overcome all obstacles facing the Federation of Consumer Associations so that the citizens and residents are not affected.

He added the ministry has formed 6 inspection teams in coordination with the Civil Defense Department to organize the work of volunteers in accordance with the requirements of the health authorities. With regard to disbursing social assistance to those who deserve it, he said, the family care departments are working to complete the files without any delay to pay the dues to the deserving groups on their specified dates, in addition to receiving visitors in all sectors of the ministry.

Al-Subaie stressed the need for all sectors and departments of the ministry to adhere to the implementation of the Civil Service Commission decision regarding working hours and personnel which should not exceed 30 percent with firmness in applying health requirements and providing sterilizers in all departments of the ministry.
