Call 112 in case of emergencies; stick to rules

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: Based on the directives of the Ministry of Interior’s senior leadership, the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media at the ministry stressed the need to intensify efforts to confront the rainy season, and reduce its negative effects and repercussions to the lowest possible level, with the cooperation of the concerned government agencies, reports Aljarida daily. It affirmed that the concerned sectors of the Ministry of Interior have taken all measures to achieve the desired objectives.

The department indicated that plans for coordination and cooperation in this aspect have been developed, and the level of readiness to face the rainy season has been raised. It highlighted the harnessing of all technical and human capabilities to protect citizens and residents, and preserve public and private properties in the event of any emergency or exceptional circumstances. The department declared that the Ministry of Interior is ready to receive all reports on the General Hotline No. 112, as well as on the Hotline No. 1880888 of the Coast Guard Control Room if sea-goers are exposed to any emergency conditions, and the Hotline No. 1804000 of the Control Room of the General Department of Civil defense, confirming their follow-up, response and immediate interaction with them.

Also, the department urged the public not to hesitate in calling the hotline No. to request for any security, traffic or humanitarian assistance. It called upon citizens and residents to abide by the rules of security and safety, ensure the validity and safety of vehicle lights, maintain safe distance, and ensure the efficiency of vehicle tires and brakes in order to avoid traffic accidents.

The department affirmed that public security, emergency and traffic patrol teams have been deployed on all main roads and intersections to achieve the highest levels of security and safety for road users. It stressed the need for motorists to adhere to the traffic law and rules, and the traffic signs and speed lanes, as well as leave sufficient distance between vehicles, avoid speeding, avoid overtaking, and avoid using hazard lights except in the event of a complete stop. It also warned against sudden stopping during rain and using cameras or mobile phones while driving in order to avoid accidents. The department insisted that police officers will respond firmly and forcefully to any attempt to break the law and carry out acts of recklessness. It appealed to citizens and residents to quickly report any negative phenomena that represent a danger to road users, highlighting that this cooperation is regarded as a real interpretation and positive interaction to extend the umbrella of safety and security in all parts of the country.
