MoH appoints EPIC to verify certificates of expat doctors

Expats to bear review charges

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: EPIC, a specialized international organization approved by the Ministry of Health to review the doctors’ certificates, will start work on Sunday, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to health sources, the ministry will not bear any cost and the verification fees will be paid by the concerned doctor. The sources told the daily that “the financial cost is determined by the international institution and not the ministry. The same sources said non- Kuwaiti doctors will pay $125 to open an account with the institution, and then pay $80 per certificate or document that is to be reviewed.

The sources also pointed out that the international institution has entered into several agreements with several leading international health organizations, including the General Medical Council of Britain, Australia, Ireland and the United States.

For his part, President of the Kuwaiti Medical Association, Dr Ahmed Al-Enezi has praised the decision of the Ministry of Health to hire EPIC to check the certificates and ensure authenticity, stressing that it is an appreciated step which came after consultations with the Association.

Al-Enezi told the daily EPIC is a global non-profit organization accredited by most of the world’s most advanced and highly qualified countries. It is one of the world’s best scientific certification institutions with more than 60 years of experience.

While dealing with more than 2,400 medical colleges in more than 180 countries. EPIC Systems Corporation, or EPIC, is a privately held healthcare software company. According to the company, hospitals that use its software hold medical records of 64% of patients in the United States and 2.5% of patients worldwide.
