Ministry to refer ‘co-op society’ in financial violations to prosecution

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 8: The Ministry of Social Affairs is in the process of referring a cooperative society in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate to the Public Prosecution due to grave financial and administrative violations, which could harm the shareholders’ funds and negatively affect the cooperative’s financial position, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources. Sources said two board members of the cooperative committed major financial violations, prompting the ministry to refer them to the prosecution.

Sources asserted the ministry does not tolerate irregularities or anomalies. In addition, sources revealed that Minister of Social Affairs and Societal Development and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Mubarak Al-Arou is expected to issue a decision within this week regarding the new regulations on arranging Umrah trips for cooperative societies. Sources confirmed that the Control and Inspection Department in the Cooperative Sector recently submitted the new regulations to the assistant undersecretary for cooperative affairs and ministry undersecretary for approval. Sources added these new regulations, which the daily published previously, are aimed at eliminating anomalies in the organization of Umrah trips.
