Ministries workers stage protests; MoE workers termination list OK’d

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12: Some female employees working for the care of the elderly and family nursery departments of the Ministry of Social Affairs demonstrated in front of the office of the Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development, Dr. Mishaan Al-Otaibi, in front of the Ministries Complex, reports Al-Rai daily. They are demanding shift allowance benefits for work on Fridays, Saturdays, and official holidays and have also called on the Civil Service Commission (CSC) to approve the allowances in line to what is being paid to specialists working in the Ministry of Eduction.

Sackings approved
Minister of Education Dr Ali Al-Mudhaf has approved the list of workers who will be referred for retirement, including administrators and teachers with 34 years in service, reports Al-Anba daily quoting reliable sources from the educational sector. Sources revealed the retirement referral decision covers those who completed 34 years in service as of Aug 31. Sources said the decision will take effect on the first of January, indicating the last working day for those included in the decision will be on Dec 31. Sources added most of those referred for retirement are school principals, pointing out the decision does not include central administration directors for the first time as the specified number of years in service (34 years) is not yet applicable to them.
