MoI denies statements attributed to Sheikh Talal

KUWAIT CITY, March 8: In a negative step that contradicts the government’s tendency to publish its achievements, the Minister of Public Works, Dr. Amani Bouqmaz, has allegedly issued orders to prevent journalists from attending her meeting with representatives of ambassadors of 7 countries regarding direct contracting to solve the road problem, reports Al-Jarida daily.

Al-Jarida said it was surprised when one of the reporters from Al-Jarida was barred from attending the meeting by the minister’s advisors, explaining that the attendance would be limited to Kuwait TV only, and there was no desire for the presence of journalists. This step comes from Minister Bouqmaz to prevent journalists from asking questions regarding the meeting or the road crisis that the country has been suffering from for years without a solution. It is noteworthy that Minister Bouqmaz has not met with journalists once since she took over the two portfolios.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Interior has denied what has been attributed to the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, and Acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled on the issue of Souk Sharq and some measures that have been taken saying, he “did not make any statement at all,” reports Al-Jarida daily. The Public Relations and Security Media Department of the ministry said in a press statement that it is an explanation of the role of the ministry in such a situation, which is to provide the necessary assistance to the concerned government agencies in implementing laws and regulations, according to what was stated in the decree establishing the Ministry of Interior issued in 1979, on the occasion of the issuance of the decision of the Ministry of Finance (Assistant Undersecretary for Affairs State Property and Legal Affairs) No. 2 of 2023 regarding the evacuation of the Waterfront Project – Phase Three, after the Ministry of Interior was asked by the Ministry of Finance to provide assistance for its implementation according to its letter dated 3/2/2023.
