KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: MP-elect Hamdan Al-Azmi commented about the huge traffic jam on the first day of school Sunday. He attributed this to the decision of the Ministry of Education to specify the same closing time for all schools. He suggested resumption of the previous closing times as follows: 12:00 noon for the elementary, and 1:00 pm for the preparatory and secondary stages.
The 2022/2023 academic year has fully started with about 277,553 students in the intermediate and secondary stages in all educational districts joining those in kindergarten and primary schools that began the year earlier last Sunday, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources. Sources confirmed to the daily that government schools for the secondary and intermediate stages were fully prepared for the new academic year; whereas the administrations, in cooperation with the officials of the educational districts, watered down challenges that could have prevented the operations of primary and kindergarten schools.
Sources expect the new school year to start without hindrances; after providing the needs, completing maintenance and cleaning works, and increasing the number of workers in the educational and administrative facilities of the Education Ministry. Sources added the concerned educational sector officials will continue their inspection tours to ensure readiness and monitor the progress of work.
