MEW hires 914 Kuwaitis

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The number of Kuwaitis appointed to the technical and administrative sectors in the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy from January to May this year totaled 914, reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting statistics issued by the Statistics Department in the ministry. According to the report, these Kuwaitis were appointed under the supplementary appropriation item of the budget for fiscal 2021/2022 and as per the nomination of the Civil Service Commission (CSC), which is responsible for appointments in government agencies.

The statistics indicated that the number of employees in the ministry reached 29,061; including 28,118 Kuwaitis or 96.8 percent of the total workforce, while the number of non-Kuwaiti employees reached 943 or 3.2 percent — a decrease of 38 during the above mentioned period.

On the other hand, it has been reported that the ministry connected electricity to 1,933 real estate properties within the same period in all activities — private, investment, commercial, agricultural, industrial and governmental housing. This was done through the management of electrical installations at the Electrical Distribution Networks Sector in the ministry.
