Many arrested as fake maids offices busted; Syrian stabs GCC expat

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: Personnel from the General Department for Residence Affairs have arrested a number of expatriates for running fake domestic labor recruiting offices in Salmiya, reports Al-Anba daily. During the raid police have also arrested 16 domestic workers some of whom had run away from their sponsors and reported absconders, some whose residence had expired and stayed illegally in the country and others for violating the labor law. The owners of the offices were reportedly cheating Kuwaitis. Those arrested have been referred to the authorities.

GCC expat stabbed: A Syrian expatriate stabbed a GCC expatriate in Sulaibiya area during a quarrel over a longstanding dispute, says Al-Seyassah. When the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior receive information about the quarrel, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location and discovered that some passerby managed to settle the quarrel and took the injured man to Jahra Hospital. Securitymen rushed to the hospital and discovered that the victim is a GCC national and he was stabbed three times in his back and shoulder. When they questioned him, he revealed that he was driving when the Syrian man demanded him to pull over and started insulting him. This led to a quarrel between them, and the Syrian pulled out a knife and stabbed him three times. Securitymen managed to figure out the identity of the suspect and discovered that he is involved in a number of crimes. Securitymen eventually arrested him and referred him to the concerned authorities.
