‘Liberation of Kuwait’ to teach new generation country’s history

KUWAIT CITY, March 10, (KUNA): Minister of Information and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Hamoud Al-Sabah attended the premiere of the movie and launching of a book entitled, “Liberation of Kuwait”, at Arifjan Military Camp in South Kuwait.

In a press statement, Sheikh Salman pointed out both the book and the movie are considered a documentary for the coming generation of Kuwaitis for them to be aware of an important period in the history of Kuwait.

He said the book and movie are symbols of appreciation and gratitude of the State of Kuwait towards all countries that contributed to its liberation, focusing on the role of the United States of America which led the international coalition to liberate Kuwait from the Iraqi invaders. Sheikh Salman also applauded the efforts exerted by relevant government agencies in the Amiri Diwan as well as the ministries of Defense, Interior and Information, in producing this joint work with the US in order to convey an important message of appreciation to the people and US military forces for standing with Kuwait.

He pointed out, “The joint work in producing the movie and book is also dedicated to everyone who sacrificed their valuable life to restore the right over this country to its citizens, such that the country continues its course on humanitarian work and benevolence under the leadership of HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince and HH the Prime Minister.”

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Kuwait Douglas A. Silliman said the book launching and movie premiere are deemed a model of cooperation between the US and the State of Kuwait. He praised the active role played by Sheikh Salman in the production of the documentary film on the liberation of Kuwait, which recaptures an important period in Kuwait’s history and Kuwait-US relations. “Liberation of Kuwait” was filmed in Kuwait and the US, and it includes testimonies of several diplomats, military officials and politicians from Kuwait and US during the invasion and liberation, in addition to vital information regarding the period which is also documented in the book. The celebration concluded with honoring several Kuwaitis, US military officers, and everyone who played a role during the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invaders.
