Kuwaitis, expats swindled by bogus maids office

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: Residency Affairs Investigators detected a bogus domestic workers office managed by two expatriates who swindled Kuwaitis and expatriates, says Public Relations and Security Media Department. Statement added detectives at the Search and Investigation Unit affiliated to General Department of Residency Affairs received a tip off concerning the activities of the suspects who operated by signing contracts with prospective clients to bring in domestic workers, and after their victims have paid specific sums for the service, they would issue receipts to make them think it’s an official deal.

Meanwhile, the officers arrested eight African women when their status revealed they were on the list of domestic workers wanted for absconding. All eight suspects admitted engaging in casual works to receive daily wages without necessarily working for their sponsors. They have since been referred to the concerned authority.
