Kuwaiti’s detention extended in Egyptian assault case

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 16: The Detention Renewal judge yesterday ordered the extension of the detention of a Kuwaiti citizen, who assaulted an Egyptian expatriate Wahid Rifai inside a motorcycle shop in Shuwaikh Industrial Area, for more two weeks, reports Al-Anba daily. The Public Prosecution held investigations with the suspect over the case referred to it by the General Investigations Department. The case file included the charges recorded at the police station of beating, insulting, causing severe physical injuries to the citizen, and of beating and insulting the Egyptian expatriate.

Two more weeks: The Sentences Renewal Judge has ordered the continued detention of the chairman of the Kuwait and Gulf Link Transport Company (KGL Investment) Said Dashti and his Russian deputy Marsha Lazareva for two weeks in the case of transgression on public money, reports Al-Rai daily. Dashti and Marsha were recently sent to the Central Prison in case No. (1942/2015) concerning public funds. The former Minister of Communications, former chairman of the Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA), Issa Al- Kandari, had sent a report to the Attorney General on Oct 21, 2015 concerning the disbursement of funds directly from the company’s account estimated to be 21 million dinars.

Held at airport: A Jordanian woman was prevented from leaving for her home country because of a fight she had with a Kuwaiti woman, reports Al-Rai daily. Security authorities at the Kuwait International Airport prevented the woman from traveling because she fought with her Kuwaiti friend and caused her injuries.
