KUWAIT, Aug 15: The Kuwaiti photographer Majed Al-Zuabi won the grand award of the Bird Photographer of the Year contest currently held in the United Kingdom.
Al-Zuabi, the first Arab to win the prize since launching the competition in 2016, told KUNA he won the award for a picture he had shot on a remote island north of Norway, where thousands of polar birds settle.
The Kuwaiti winner had snapped a shot of a pair of European cormorants at dusk, amid snow-blanketed terrain.
Al-Zuabi had won many awards including Sheikh Hamadan bin Mohammad bin Rashed international award for photographing.
His picture contested some 15,000 pictures in the contest. (KUNA)
