KUWAIT CITY, June 23: The Misdemeanors Section in the Court of Appeals acquitted a citizen of assaulting an officer, destroying the officer’s radio device and resisting arrest, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Case files indicate that the victim – a lieutenant in the Ministry of Interior – stopped a vehicle due to the suspicious behavior of the driver and then asked for the documents of the driver, during which the officer discovered the latter is wanted by law for involvement in a civil case and this led to his arrest.

However, the accused beat the officer and fled from the scene. The officer chased the accused but the latter manhandled him, damaged his radio and then escaped. Lawyer for the accused, Attorney Abdul Latif Al-Sarraf, argued in court that his client was arrested illegally as there was no valid reason for the officer to take such step, so he demanded for the acquittal of the plaintiff.
