Kuwait Prime Minister Commends Outstanding Athletes for Their Achievements

KUWAIT CITY, June 5: Under the auspices of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Public Authority for Sport (PAS) in cooperation with Kuwait Olympic Committee hosted a ceremony on Sunday honoring Kuwaiti exceptional athletes for the year 2023.

On behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Sheikh Ahmad conveyed, in a speech at the ceremony greetings and blessings to all athletes and recognizing their achievements in various sport fields and events. The premier added that most of the honored sports federations and clubs today have reached advanced stages when they participates in tournaments, expressing his aspiration that the State of Kuwait has become a strong competitor in the region and international stage. Sheikh Ahmad also addressed his sons, the athletes, “We must not look back, as Kuwaitis we will not benefit much from it. Let us put aside our differences and work together for a better future to Kuwait sport.

His Highness the premier mentioned that those in charge of the Public Sports Authority are among the best young people and are currently working on developing strategic plans for the future, calling on everyone to cooperate with them to improve Kuwaiti sport. Sheikh Ahmad also expressed his pride in the achievements that Kuwaiti athletes made and the high levels they presented that culminated in obtaining the highest ranks, calling on them to continue such progress and raise the flag of Kuwait high in the upcoming sports events. For his part, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, delivered a similar speech in which he affirmed that the celebration of this distinguished group of athletes comes as an appreciation and culmination of their achievements, indicating that the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister represents a clear motive for the honorees to continue to thrive in all international forums.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, said in a statement to KUNA that the honoring ceremony, which included 350 male and female athletes from 23 sports organizations, is an affirmation of the permanent care given by the political leadership and state officials to the sports sector. His Highness the Prime Minister honored the distinguished male and female athletes for the year 2023 from various Kuwaiti bodies, committees, federations and sports clubs. The ceremony was attended by the Director of PAS, Yosef Abdullah Al-Baidan, the President of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee, Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, and senior state officials.
