Kuwait National Day Modern Pentathlon Championship concludes

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 28: The competitions of the National Day Modern Pentathlon Championship for men and women concluded. 120 male and female participated in the event which was held at the Hunting and Equestrian Club. More than 120 male and female players competed in 5 sports that lasted over two days.

The results of the tournament, which was held under the auspices of the Minister of Information and Culture and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi. The first place was won by a team consisting of players Abbas Dashti, Faisal Ashkanani and Salem Al-Salem in the men’s category. While first place in the female category was won by team Hessa Al-Damkhi, Fouz Al-Rifai and Mariam Saad ranked.

The tournament consisted of 5 sports running, swimming, Lasergun shooting and fencing, in addition to equestrian show jumping. Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Sports for the Competitive Sports Sector, Bashar Abdullah, speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after crowning the winners stated that the authority is keen to support sports federations and clubs to organize sports tournaments that serve the sports youth. He praised the distinguished organization of the tournament by the Kuwaiti Modern Pentathlon Club, which witnessed good response of male and female players, congratulating the teams that won the first three positions in the two categories.

The closing ceremony of the championship was attended by the President of the Al-Fatah Sports Club, Sheikha Naima Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Secretary-General of the Hunting and Equestrian Club, Sheikh Sabah Fahd Al-Nasser Al-Sabah, the Director of the Sports for All Department, Hamid Al-Hazeem, and a number of officials of the authority and the club.
