HH the Amir congratulates Oman’s Sultan Qaboos on ‘Gulf Cup’ title

Officials thank organisers for Gulf Cup success

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak hands over the Gulf Cup to Omani team.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6, (KUNA): His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah on Friday sent a cable to Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman congratulating him on the Omani team’s win of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup, “Gulf 23” title. Kuwait hosted the tournament on Dec 22, 2017-Jan 5, 2018. His Highness the Amir praised the sports achievement of the Omani national football team, and the high performance of the two teams in the “Gulf 23” final game.

His Highness the Amir also highlighted the “high brotherly spirit” displayed by all teams in the fixture, as well as fair play and competition, embodying the close and strong ties among them. His Highness the Amir prayed for Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s wellbeing, and further development and prosperity for Oman under his wise leadership. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent similar congratulatory cables to the Sultan. Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir on Friday sent cables to leaders of GCC states, presidents of Iraq and Yemen, expressing deep gratitude for participation of their countries’ soccer teams in the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup tournament.

His Highness the Amir, in the cables, expressed deep satisfaction for seeing such a gathering of GCC youth, thus manifesting the cordial bonds among peoples of the Council member states. His Highness praised high turnout of soccer fans from these countries, thus boosting the competition atmosphere during the games. Their Highnesses, the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Prime Minister, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, addressed identical cables to these leaders.

His Highness the Amir on Friday sent a cable of thanks to a number of senior officials and ministers for their efforts and preparations for the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup, which concluded late Friday. The cable of His Highness the Amir was sent to Chief of Kuwait National Guard (KNG) His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, Deputy Chief of KNG Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah, and Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah.

The cable was also sent to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and head of the supreme committee of preparation for the Gulf 23, and Minister of Commerce and Industry, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Khaled Al- Roudhan, as well as Minister of Information Mohammad Al-Jaberi and Minister of Health Sheikh Bassel Humoud Al-Sabah. In the cable, His Highness the Amir expressed his great appreciation and thanks to all ministries and governmental bodies that took part in preparations for the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup hosted by Kuwait from Dec 22 to Jan 5. His Highness the Amir lauded efforts and distinguished arrangements of these ministries, as well as the big turnout of fans and their reactions which added joy and the spirit of honorable competition to the championship.
