Expat acquitted of fraud

KUWAIT CITY, March 8: The Court of Cassation upheld the verdict issued by the Criminal and Appellate courts which acquitted an expatriate employee of a cooperative society in Farwaniya Governorate who was accused of embezzling KD 11,000. The Public Prosecution had charged the accused, in his capacity as an official in a cooperative society’s branch, with usurping KD 11,000, which caused great damage to the funds of the cooperative society and its shareholders. Lawyer Nasser Al-Shammari, the legal counsel representing the accused, said his client denied the accusation since the beginning of the investigations. During the session at the Criminal Court, lawyer Al-Shammari highlighted that his client does not work alone in the branch, and the accusation is nothing more than a notebook deficit.
