KUWAIT CITY, March 6: Delivery companies are keen on hiring Indians for the delivery sector due to the low cost compared to other nationalities, reports Al-Qabas daily. However, the Association of the Owners of Delivery Companies expects that 40 percent of delivery workers will leave their current employers and transfer to the construction sector soon. They explained that delivery workers usually escape after obtaining a residence permit, completing legal procedures and getting a driving license for motorcycles or vehicles.

They said the slow procedures in filing absconding cases against workers and lack of control mechanisms have greatly contributed to the increase in the number of absconding workers in the delivery sector. They then stressed the importance of activating the supervisory role of the concerned tripartite committee, while intensifying campaigns against establishments that violate the Labor Law. They pointed out the daily wage in some sectors ranges from KD15 to KD25 in addition to incentives and bonuses, while the monthly salary of delivery workers ranges from KD180 to KD250.
