KUWAIT CITY, July 21: The Court of Cassation commuted the death sentence of an Egyptian to life imprisonment for the pre-meditated murder of his sponsor. Case files indicate that on Dec 31 last year, the Operations Unit in the Ministry of Interior received a report about the victim whose body was found in a pool of blood in the courtyard of a building in Khaitan. Upon examination of the body, the concerned authorities found stab wounds in different parts. The detectives interrogated the guard of the building who said he saw the victim with someone he does not know.

When the authorities checked the mobile phone of the victim, they got suspicious of an Egyptian in the contacts list as the latter was found to be on bail. During interrogation, the Egyptian admitted to killing the victim due to financial disputes related to the renewal of his residence permit. He told the interrogators that after killing the victim, he hid the murder weapon – a knife – in his house in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh, changed his clothes and headed to Fahaheel.
