Cave-in on road near Al-Shuaiba – ‘Repairs after rains end’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18: The Ministry of Interior announced that the Traffic and Operations Sector, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works, dealt immediately with the situation after part of the road caved in on the street separating Mina Abdullah and Shuaiba after the incident was circulated on social media, reports Al-Rai daily. The ministry said, the teams are working to ensure safety of the road users, while at the same time appealing to all motorists to report any untoward incidents on the road to the emergency department (112), to help the concerned authorities to take the necessary measures as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Works Eng. Ahmad Al-Saleh, confirmed that the emergency teams have cordoned off the closed part of Al-Shuaiba Road and are waiting for the rain to relent to repair the parts of the road that collapse. Al-Saleh told the daily the emergency teams continued to remove the accumulated water on some highways, including the road leading to Al-Mutla’a. He explained that the water collected under the bridges in Al-Mutla’a city do not fall within the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Works, stressing that the emergency teams of the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport and stressed the Ministry of Works deal with any water collected inside residential areas or on highways.
