KUWAIT CITY, Apr 9: The General Department for Public Relations and Security Media at the Ministry of Interior stated that efforts have been exerted by the criminal security sector’s Drug Control General Department (DCGD), in coordination with some sectors of the security establishment, to confront smugglers and peddlers of narcotic substances during the first quarter of 2022, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, it explained that the security campaigns conducted during the aforementioned period resulted in the arrest of 638 individuals involved in cases of drug use and peddling, and the filing of 508 cases.

DCGD continues its campaigns, with the cooperation of all sectors and specialized security institutions, to arrest anyone who may be tempted to bring in or traffic in narcotics and psychotropic substances. This is aimed to protect and preserve all members of society from the dealers and promoters of this devastating scourge targeting the youth of the country.

The General Department for Public Relations and Security Media called on citizens and residents to cooperate with the security authorities to confront the drug problem in the country, especially since these criminals are directly targeting young people.

It recommended all families to support the drug-prevention programs, which  aim to protect the people of Kuwait from the scourge of drugs, by monitoring their children, raising their level of religious awareness, urging them to adhere to noble values, and ensuring they stay away from friends who can be a bad influence.
