Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait marks 52nd anniversary of National, Independence Days

KUWAIT CITY, May 13: March 26, 2023 marks the 52nd anniversary of the National Day and Independence Day of Bangladesh. As a part of the celebration, Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait hosted a reception program at the Crown Plaza on 11 May at 07:00 pm. More than 400 guests attended the program including ambassadors and members of diplomatic corps in Kuwait, high officials & dignitaries of Kuwait, member of Bangladesh Military Contingent, members of local press & media and members of Bangladesh Community in Kuwait.

His Excellency Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the State of Kuwait was present as the Chief Guest at the reception program. H.E. Major General Md. Ashikuzzaman, ndc, afwc, psc, G, Ambassador of Bangladesh in Kuwait and his spouse Mrs. Nahid Niazshilu and other officers of the embassy and their spouses welcomed the guests. The colorful reception program began with the playing of national anthems of Bangladesh & Kuwait. After that, H.E. Major General Md Ashikuzzaman, in his welcome speech, thanked His Excellency Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the State of Kuwait for gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.

He also thanked ambassadors and all distinguished guests. In his speech, the ambassador expressed his deep gratitude to the Amir, His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the government and the people of the State of Kuwait for their continued support to Bangladeshi nationals living in Kuwait. The ambassador also recalled with great reverence the greatest Bengali of all times, the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman. He also paid tribute to the four national leaders, three million martyrs, two hundred thousand dishonored women of the War of Liberation and the greatest sons of the nation – the freedom fighters, whose supreme sacrifices made independent-sovereign Bangladesh. The ambassador also thanked all those foreign countries and nationals who contributed to our War of Liberation both morally and physically in achieving the victory of Bangladesh. In his speech the ambassador also mentioned that, since the establishment of Diplomatic Relation in 1974, Bangladesh and Kuwait are enjoying excellent bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas including political, economic, export and import, trade and investment, manpower, agriculture, education, tourism and defence sector.

For mutual benefits, both the countries vowed to identify new areas of mutual cooperation such as food security, health security, climate change, renewable energy, green technology, ICT and digitalization etc. He expressed that under the dynamic leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah and visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Her Excellency Sheikh Hasina, the bilateral relationship between two friendly countries will reach a new height. In his speech, the ambassador said the government of Bangladesh has been consistent in upholding our foreign policy “Friendship to all, malice towards none” as enunciated by the Father of the Nation. As a friendly gesture, Bangladesh has sent Rescue Team and humanitarian aids to friendly country Turkiye and Syria after the recent devastating earthquake.

Despite being a densely populated country, Bangladesh has set a unique example of humanity in the world by sheltering millions of Rohingyas, the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals. Bangladesh believes in a peaceful solution to this problem. The ambassador also mentioned that, Bangladesh has graduated from least developed country to developing country. In continuation of this, Vision 2041 “Smart Bangladesh” has been announced to turn Bangladesh into a developed and knowledge based prosperous country. “Smart Bangladesh” is a vision and policy of the Government to build a digitally enabled, smarter, and more sustainable country. It aims to leverage the power of technology to improve the quality of life for all citizens, create new economic opportunities, and drive sustainable development. Building Smart Bangladesh by 2041, will be achieved by establishing Smart Citizen, Smart Economy, Smart Society, and Smart Government. He express that, the State of Kuwait will be a comprehensive partner of Bangladesh in this exciting new journey. He also stated that Bangladesh has established 100 Special Economic Zones to attract the potential investors. The main objective of this initiative is to act as a change agent for faster economic growth by creating investment friendly environment and attracting foreign direct investment.

To facilitate the investment environment, Bangladesh Government has undertaken number of mega projects to improve or develop the communications network both internally, regionally and globally. On behalf of the government of Bangladesh, the ambassador invites Kuwait and all the friendly countries of the world to invest in economic zones and share benefits of mutual growth and prosperity. In his speech he also focused on the tourism sector of Bangladesh. Depicting Bangladesh in a land of beauty, the ambassador requested all to visit Bangladesh to enjoy the natural beauty and hospitality of Bangladeshi people. The ambassador called upon all Bangladeshi people living in Kuwait to contribute to their maximum in making Bangladesh “Sonar Bangla” Golden Bengal as dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Videos on the development activities of the government, archeological attraction of Bangladesh and contribution of Bangladesh Military Contingent in Kuwait were also projected during the program. A cake was cut by the ambassador and the chief guest on the occasion. The whole program is anchored by Mr. Niaz Morshed, First Secretary & Head of Chancery.
