KUWAIT CITY, Aug 21: With the start of the school year, the upcoming parliamentary elections and the end of the summer holidays, the airport is witnessing the return of travellers after they spent their summer vacation outside the country, reports Al- Qabas daily. In the last three days, the airport witnessed the arrival of more than 340 flights from several Arab and foreign capitals. Egypt topped the inbound flights followed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Dubai.

According to the estimates provided by a source at the airport, the total number of arriving passengers per day during the current period ranges between 25,000 and 30,000. The operating agencies and sectors are working full swing to facilitate the movement of inbound and outbound passengers in a manner that ensures smooth flow from the time of arrival at the counters, passing through immigration and the transit hall, and until the customs area to collect their luggage.

The source explained that the summer travel season is still in force and will continue until the end of October. However, this period is witnessing a remarkable return due to the upcoming start of the school year, as well as the return of teachers, students and others. This year’s summer season witnessed success in organizing passenger traffic because of the airport buildings, which contributed to facilitating passenger traffic without overcrowding.

The plan related to the airport operations depends on improving the general performance of the operational and support sectors, as well as developing and improving services provided to passengers, raising work efficiency and trying to accommodate the increase in the number of passengers and users of Kuwait International Airport. In addition, a source from the travel and tourism sector revealed that many travel destinations are witnessing an increased number of passengers coming to Kuwait, most notably Cairo and Istanbul, offset by a noticeable drop in ticket prices for departures from Kuwait to European and Asian destinations. The ticket prices decreased significantly during the months of September and October compared to June and August.
