GENEVA, May 26, (KUNA): Algeria’s El-Badr Cancer Patient Association was awarded on Friday the 2018 His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Prize for Research in HealthCare for the Elderly and in Health Promotion. Kuwait’s Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah presented the prize to El-Badr Association’s President Dr Mustapha Moussaoui on the sidelines of the 71st World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva.

The prize is awarded to individuals, institutions, and organizations that made outstanding research accomplishments in the fields of elderly healthcare and health promotion. El-Badr Association offers care to cancer patients in Algeria and provides cancer prevention services in various universities, companies, and public places around the country.

It has been recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an inspiring example of the involvement of civil society in social and humanitarian actions. For his part, Sheikh Basel Al- Sabah conveyed His Highness the Amir’s congratulations to El-Badr Association for winning the prize, lauding WHO’s role in sponsoring it and attaining its desired goals.

His Highness the Amir Prize is a memorable mark and a source of pride in the history of deep-rooted cooperation between Kuwait and WHO, he said, pointing out the Prize’s importance to implementing health strategies, work plans, initiatives, and programs. Such a generous initiative by His Highness the Amir, the “Humanitarian Leader”, embodies a high-leveled political commitment on ground by Kuwait through encouraging researches in healthcare for the elderly, he noted.
