Violators to face law: Al-Rashed

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 16: Charities and Foundations Department Director at the Ministry of Social Affairs Hoda Al-Rashed revealed the advertisements published by individuals and companies to collect donations are being monitored in order to identify those who violate the laws and decisions regulating charitable work, confirming the necessary measures have been taken against those proven to have committed violations, reports Al-Jarida daily. Al-Rashed affirmed the ministries of Social Affairs and Commerce are coordinating their efforts to address the issue, leading to the identification and punishment of companies involved in the illegal collection of donations.

She said the individuals found to have committed violations are referred to the concerned authorities. “Out of concern for the correct direction of donated funds and cutting the way for intruders to charitable work who distort its image and ignore its goals; we are currently launching an awareness plan for citizens and residents, through which we urge them to give their donations only to officially recognized charitable organizations,” she narrated.

While confirming the ministry’s keenness to deliver donations only to deserving people and monitor unauthorized calls for collection of donations, Al-Rashed disclosed the cases of needy people are referred to the official charitable organizations that study their situation and provide assistance to them. She added the ministry is fully cooperating with the charitable organizations in this regard.
