69 nabbed in crackdown

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: Officers from Public Security Sector arrested 40 violators of law during security campaigns they launched in all governorates based on instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah.

According to security sources, Mubarak Al-Kabeer securitymen arrested a Kuwaiti citizen, who was sentenced in absentia to two-year imprisonment, in possession of drugs in Mubarak Al-Kabeer area. They also arrested another individual who was sentenced in absentia to five-year imprisonment, and 11 individuals who are involved in financial, civilian and criminal cases. Meanwhile, officers arrested 29 individuals involved in criminal and financial cases from other governorates including a Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of betrayal of trust, another for nonpayment of KD 80,000 and yet another for nonpayment of KD 44,000. All arrested individuals were referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Trespassers queried: The State Security police are interrogating two men — a Kuwaiti, and an Iraqi — for sneaking into a restricted zone, reports Al-Anba daily. At the time of arrest, the men were carrying modern smart phone and had telephone lines of Turkey, Iran and Iraq. The men were seized by guards at the Maqwa gate.
