2,695 Expats Arrested for Residency Law Violations

KUWAIT CITY, July 3: The Public Security Sector in the Interior of Ministry has released statistics from Sept 1, 2022 to May 30, 2023; covering 22,212 checkpoints in the Capital, Hawally, Ahmadi, Jahra, Farwaniya and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates, reports Al-Anba daily.

Throughout the above mentioned period, a total of 534 persons wanted by law were arrested; in addition to 2,695 expatriates who violated the Residency Law. They were referred to the Administrative Deportation Department.

According to the statistics of the sector headed by Major General Abdullah Al-Rajeeb, most of the violators were nabbed in Farwaniya Governorate — 878 individuals, 580 in the Capital Governorate and the rest in other governorates.

Also, 2,506 individuals were arrested for involvement in drug and alcohol cases —2,279 drug cases and 227 alcohol cases. Farwaniya Governorate has the largest number of drug cases with 420, followed by Jahra Governorate with 395 and the rest in other governorates. Ahmadi Governorate has the highest number of alcohol cases with 52, followed by Jahra and Farwaniya governorates with 33 each.

Also, the number of traffic violations reached 100,169 with Ahmadi Governorate on top at 20,444. The sector dealt with 39,432 major and minor traffic accidents; while 230 citations were issued for parking in areas allotted for the disabled.
