22 Drug Dealers Arrested with 16,500 kgs of Illicit Substances

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: In a significant operation, the General Department for Narcotics Control has successfully apprehended 22 individuals of different nationalities in separate cases, confiscating approximately 16,500 kilograms of various narcotics, 2,400 psychotropic pills, and substantial amounts of money.

The General Administration of Security Relations and Media highlighted the ongoing commitment of the Ministry of Interior to combat drug dealers and smugglers, prioritizing the protection of the nation’s youth from the perils of this devastating menace.

Led by the General Department for Drug Control, the criminal security sector apprehended 22 individuals from diverse backgrounds, including 4 Arabs, 2 foreigners, 3 Asians, 7 citizens, and 6 illegal residents, in connection with various cases. These individuals were found in possession of approximately 16,500 kilograms of different narcotics, 2,400 psychotropic pills, and varying sums of money.

During the confrontation with the suspects and the seized evidence, they admitted their ownership of the confiscated items, acknowledging their intent to engage in drug trafficking and abuse. Subsequently, both the apprehended individuals and the seized contraband were handed over to the competent authorities to initiate legal proceedings against them.

The Ministry of the Interior reiterates its unwavering dedication to ongoing security efforts, aiming to apprehend anyone involved in the importation and trade of narcotic substances. These measures are essential to protect society from the dangerous threats posed by these illicit activities.
