KUWAIT CITY, Aug 12: General Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry has denied recent news item alleging that Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad will specify the period of using vehicles given to officers at the Criminal Investigation Department.

Report indicated the Interior Ministry was on the verge of approving a circular that bans usage of vehicles affiliated to the Criminal Investigation Department beyond official working hours. It also said the vehicles would be used solely for work related assignments during working hours and then parked at the premises after work, stressing the directors and their assistants would be excluded from the new directive.

It also said the circular is in the office of Ministry Undersecretary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad pending his approval next week after resuming work. The circular is in the framework of saving public funds and state owned property given to civil servants, noting items belonging to the state must be returned and should not be used for other purposes. Meanwhile, the department indicated the duty of investigation officers is around the clock and unspecified, which requires them to use vehicles to perform their duties.
