Dalal Al-Obaid with Nabila Al-Kharafi.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: Equestrian expert Dalal Al-Obaid, the General Manager of Sahara Equestrian Resort, affirms the peak status of Kuwaiti equestrianism. This is notably evident with the surge in equestrian clubs and a growing number of male and female riders across all age groups in recent years—a positive trend supported by both government and private sectors.

-Obaid emphasizes Sahara Equestrian Club’s dedication to fostering the sport’s growth by organizing numerous local tournaments. The club places particular emphasis on the beginner category, starting from 6 years old. Local trainers within Kuwait, as well as foreign trainers from the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy, lead these aspiring riders. Sahara Equestrian Club sets itself apart by initiating tournaments with hurdle heights beginning at 50 cm, a crucial starting point for the junior category. This is especially noteworthy since many clubs commence their competitions at higher heights, typically starting from 70 cm.

Al-Obaid highlights Kuwait’s inclusion of an esteemed cadre of referees and coaches with a significant global impact in the equestrian realm. She further notes the distinguished role played by women in the field of equestrian arbitration. The Sahara Club officially commenced its activities in early January, actively participating in local tournaments that draw more than 100 male and female riders.
