Thorough check ordered in files of citizenship obtained in last 15 yrs

KUWAIT CITY, April 14: Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs in the Interior Ministry Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah has instructed the Investigation Sector to thoroughly check files of all those who obtained citizenship in the last 15 years, especially those who were naturalized in 2007, reports Al-Anba daily. In a press statement, Al-Jarrah pointed out the directive is firm particularly in its call to refrain from providing cover to those who obtained their citizenship illegally. He warned that legal measures will be taken against anyone proven to have violated the law on obtaining citizenship considering this is a matter of sovereignty and those who hold the Kuwaiti citizenship are given exceptional privileges.

MPs intervention cited: The Ministry of Information has deferred on its decision to refer 18 employees to the Public Prosecution after they were accused of falsifying their fingerprints, reports Al-Rai daily. The sources added the decision was taken following the intervention of some MPs and the Ministry of Information workers’ union. However, the ministry had to do with fines worth KD 400 each slapped on the suspecting employees.

Royal’s KD 1,500 stolen: An unidentified member of the ruling family has filed a complaint with the Adan Police Station accusing an unidentified person of breaking into his car which was parked in Funaitees and stealing KD 1,500, reports Al-Rai daily. He added, the theft occurred when he went to a construction site to supervise the work on his house. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints.

MEW’s decision criticized: Residents of Shuwaikh, Block 1, have criticized the decision of the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Water, for ordering the Kuwait Municipality to uproot more trees from a garden in the area to make way for a power transformer, reports Al-Qabas daily. Residents were quoted as saying they have taken a serious view of the decision and will prevent the Kuwait Municipality workers from implementing the decision. The stand is supported by some volunteers who had taken part to plant the trees.
