KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Bahrain's national football team coach, Croatian Dragan Talajic, acknowledged the tough challenge his side faces in today's semi-final against Kuwait in the "Khaleeji Zain 26".
At a press conference held yesterday at the tournament's main media center at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Talajic highlighted the excitement surrounding the match, predicting a packed Jaber Al-Ahmad International Football Stadium with 60,000 spectators. He emphasized that his team would strive to deliver its best performance to please the large Bahraini crowd expected to support it in Kuwait.
Reflecting on his team's performance, Talajic expressed disappointment over Bahrain's 1-2 loss to Yemen in the final group stage match, offering congratulations to the Yemeni team for its impressive display. He explained that the defeat came after rotating players, and despite the loss, the team remained focused on its goal of advancing to the final.
Talajic also expressed great respect for the Kuwaiti national team, acknowledging its technical prowess both individually and collectively. However, he reaffirmed Bahrain's determination to win and secure a place in the final.
Bahraini player Mahdi Hamidan echoed his coach's sentiments, confirming that the team is fully prepared for the semi-final clash. He emphasized the team's experience, noting that Bahrain has qualified for the semi-finals in recent Gulf Cup tournaments, providing it with valuable insights into handling the pressures of such high-stakes encounters.
Hamidan also pointed out that the loss to Yemen had only sharpened their focus, further motivating the team as they prepare to face Kuwait in this crucial semi-final match.
