Syrian posing as local trader swindles several expatriates

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 22: Police have arrested a Syrian who is believed to be in his 60s for impersonating a Kuwaiti businessman and duping expatriates, reports Al-Shahed daily. The suspect reported lured his victim to participate in his business venture and after receiving money vanished from sight. Police acting on information managed to arrest the impersonator from his office in the Capital governorate. According to reports several victims have picked him from the legal lineup.

Vehicle stolen: Unknown person stole vehicle belonging to an Egyptian engineer working for a major company in Farwaniya area. In a complaint to security operatives, the victim said he was surprise when he came out of his apartment and discovered the vehicle was missing, noting he kept a laptop and confidential company documents in the vehicle. Details of the vehicle have since been circulated to various checkpoints. A case was registered. Meanwhile, an Asian expatriate filed a case with officers at Farwaniya police station against an unknown person who snatched his mobile phone while he was waiting at a bus stop in the area.
