RIYADH, Aug 26: Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, awarded the World Cup of Electronic Sports to the Saudi Falcons team at the closing ceremony of the tournament's inaugural edition. The event took place in Riyadh, with nearly 500 teams and 1,500 professional players from around the globe competing over eight weeks for the largest prize pool in the history of electronic sports, totaling $7 million from an overall purse of more than $60 million.
The Falcons team emerged as the top performer, securing 5,665 points through their participation in 12 tournaments, where they claimed first place in both the "Call of Duty: Warzone" and "Free Fire" competitions.
The tournament set new records for attendance, contributing to a 29 percent increase in visitors to Riyadh compared to the previous year.
