KUWAIT CITY, Sept 22: The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has approved the request of the Ministry of Public Works to hold a negotiation session with those whose offers for 18 road repair tenders were accepted on Tuesday. Sources revealed the ministry sent a letter to CAPT on Aug 19, requesting to set the date for negotiations regarding prices and some technical issues on the tenders.
Sources said the tenders are divided into two groups: one group will be implemented by the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation (PART) and the other group by the ministry’s Roads Engineering Sector, which is responsible for internal roads.
Sources added CAPT also decided to ask the bidders to extend the initial insurance for all companies participating in the tenders as per Article 46 of Public Tenders Law no. 49/2016, indicating a number of companies were excluded due to failure to meet the conditions. On the other hand, the ministry announced the launching of a tender for connecting the sewage network of the future free trade zone with the ministry’s network.
CAPT set Monday as the date for the preliminary meeting for companies wishing to bid to respond to all inquiries. Then, a date will be set to open the bids and to hold a negotiation session. Sources said the project aims to protect the marine environment by preventing sewage flows from being diverted to Kuwait Bay through the connection of the sewage network for the multi-purpose service area -- former Shuwaikh Free Trade Zone -- with the ministry’s network.
