KUWAIT CITY, June 27: A preacher of Muneera Al-Khalid Mosque in Al-Salaam area has been suspended and referred for investigations after he allegedly violated the mosque charter last week, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that the Religious Jobs Committee of Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs checked the audiovisual records to study the sermon and discovered that the preacher made some references to political matters which is in violation of the mosque charter.

In this regard, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs issued a circular to stress the need to avoid extending the Friday sermon beyond 15 minutes in mosques located within the residential areas where the prayers are more. It declared that the Friday sermon in the border areas should not exceed ten minutes, insisting on the need to abide by this time conditions due to the hot weather conditions.
