KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: Fourteen teams were presented Friday in the inaugural round of the 2019 Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait 33rd Anniversary Cup Tenpin Bowling League at the Kuwait Bowling Sporting Club Complex in Salmiya, Kuwait. The opening ceremony started with a simple program led by its president Rudy de Lima and vice-president Sonia Mathews. Newly recruit Mousa Abdullah powered the defending champion UNIMONI Exchange after frightening the ASEAN Pride X-Trikerz  3,205-2,833 and the Falcon International Cargo who subdued the GOAN Strikers who played with just three bowlers 3,202-2,435 while the Swooping Eagles swept the three game series against the SKARZ team 3,002-2,376. The other teams that posted victories were Asian Air Safari, Jordan Elites, N 10 MID8TORS and Asian Air Safari. 

The fourteen participating teams with their members were Al Qwassem – Fadel Al Qassem (Team Captain), Saleh Faraj, Ali Al Qassem, Hassan Al Qassem, Yaqoub Al Shatti, Ali Jawli, Ali Al Qattan, Abdul Wahab Al Shatti and Ayoub Al Shatti; Asian Air Safari – Aqeel Farisy (Team Captain), Mohammad Abdulah, Farid Gabriel, Sonia Mathews, Neven Wassel, Ghadeer Al Sarraf, Hussain Al Salman, Bader Al Faraj, Wahab Al Ali and Mohammad Karam; Falcon Cargo – Jess Tolentino (Team Captain), Jocelyn Barros, Jhon Narvasa, Christine Moreno, Erick Chang, Melvin Alabado and Adolfo Prena; GOAN Strikers – Nelson Fernandes (Team Captain), Lloyd Fernandes, Colin Eric Nelson, Brian Fernandes, Lloyd D’ Souza, Vasant Harshan Allan Fernandes and Samantha Fernandes.

 KRAHS – Pilar Bebhehani (Team Captain), Mar Evangelista, Eden Danan, Moises Amhan, Camilo Baker, Joel Tizon, Eddie Pena, Rene Marzan and Sam Bebhehani; Split Happens Team – Nawwaf Al Salman (Team Captain), Feras Al Muhareb, Yaqoub Rubaiaan, Reem Al Zaabi, Mike Hamzi, Rami Bachour, Faisal Al Rumaidheen, Mohammed Murad, Sulaiman Al Shuaibi and Bader Burbayea and N 10 MID8TORS – Daryl Armstrong (Team Captain), Quintin Carter, Lito Michael, Luther Huling, Romona McCoy, Jelyn Colegio, Adnan Hussein, Abdul Razak Abdullah and Alma Turley. 

Powerhouse UNIMONI EXCHANGE showed its powerful bowlers led by new recruit Mousa Abdullah who delivered 215, 259, 182 (656) to ravage the X-Trikerz thus grabbing the number one slot and weekly team high series of 3,020 points. The three game series scores were 1,040-926, 1,159-979, 981-928. Mousa was supported by Abdul Rahman Kandari (558), another new recruits Jang Hosiung (535), Alex Nodalo (493), Ahmed Fadil Karam (293) and Ruben Cervantes (165). The losers were Ronell Valencia (546), Jason Gamba (531), Joe Presenta (501), Ceddie Faa (486) and Bima Nitikusumo (405). Although the X-Trikerz lose the game still landed on the eight spot of the “Magic 8” teams.  

Snatching the second place was the Falcon Int’l Cargo after taming the new team GOAN Strikers 1,011-788, 1,166-828 and 1,000-819. Newly recruit Melvin Alabado was the top scorer (579) followed by Jess Tolentino (559), Christine Moreno (550), Jhon Narvaza (501) and Jocelyn Barros (293) while the GOAN courageous trio were Lloyd Fernandes (520), Lloyd D’ Souza (452) and Brian Fernandes (440). Capturing the third place was the Swooping Eagles after sweeping the three-game series against SKARZ 1,007-769, 956-822 and 1,014-785. Riz Roque (543) was the top pointer assisted by John Caldwell (537), Jessica Balagat (483), Angie Bush (450) and Benjie Roque (443) while SKARZ bowlers were Lionel Mendes (426), Stephen Sequiera (420), Ignatius Fernandes (405) and Fatima Fernandes (312).

In the fourth place was the Asian Air Safari after outscoring the new team Split Hppens in the second and third game of the 3-game series 2,978-2,931. Although Split Happens team lose the game still managed to got the sixth place. Fifth placer was the new team the N 10 MID8TORS after crushing the KRAHS team 2,942-2,742. Jordan Elites snatched the seventh place after they defeated the IBL Tigers 2,930-2,673 and finally the NUSANTARA landed in the tenth place after outsmarting the Al Qwassem with depleted line up.

In the fifth place was the giant killer Falcon Cargo (whose members were from Green Apples) surprised the Asian Sir Safari with depleted lineup, 2,670-2,518 which was considered one of the giants in the current league. Ranked seventh, eight and tenth positions were losers, X-Trikerz, Jordan Elite Bowlers and Asian Air Safari while NUSANTARA recorded a win game but with low turn-out placed ninth and neophyte team GOAN Strikers who registered the lowest score of the day with 2,435 points only was the cellar dweller. Another two losers IBL Tigers (2673) and SKARZ (2376) hold eleventh and twelfth place.

The competing teams are supported with ‘handicap’ as per bowler individual classification and average. After the thirteenth-game of the elimination round, the top eight teams will be playing for a two-week round robin for the championship. The league features the ‘individual events’ for the men and ladies categories (high game and high average), Perfect 300 Game, Bowler of the Week, Doubles and Masters. Cash and special prizes await the winners. Team Series of the Week will get 50% lane fee discount and Team holding the Number One position for Eight consecutive weeks will get 100% free a week lane fee.
