PAM eyes work visas for expat business partners

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 4: The Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) issued a decision to grant work permits for non-Kuwaiti partners in Kuwaiti companies provided they submit an application using the form prepared by the concerned labor department, reports Al-Anba daily.

The decision, which is part of ongoing efforts to regulate work in the private sector, stipulates the requirements for granting work permits to non-Kuwaiti business partners as follows: copy of the memorandum of association of the company; certificate from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry mentioning the names of partners and their shares provided the non-Kuwaiti partner’s share of the capital is not less than KD 100,000; budget approved by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; and payment of corresponding fees.

Meanwhile, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) will adopt the new organizational structure of the Public Authority for Road and Land Transport (PARLT) in the coming weeks to appoint engineers and technicians with the required experience, specializations and technical qualifications, reports Al- Anba daily quoting sources.

Sources revealed the new structure will include four departments as well as the board of directors. Sources affirmed the authority will announce admission of new staff immediately after adoption of the new structure and setting conditions in coordination with the CSC.

Sources added the number of employees at the authority reached 600 so far. Furthermore, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khalid Al- Rawdan issued a decision to transfer supervision of the Anti-Money Laundering and Financing Terrorism Department from the Office of the Undersecretary to the Technical Affairs and Commerce Development Sector, reports Al- Rai daily.
