KUWAIT CITY, Mar 06: The MPs called on the government to abide by its precautionary decisions regarding the entry of expats into Kuwait, stressing expatriates who intend to come to Kuwait should bring a certificate stating that they are free from coronavirus.

MP Safaa Al-Hashem, MP Omar Al-Tabtabai and MP Nayef Almrdas

MP Safaa Al-Hashem said that international conventions recognize the right of any country to take all precautions to protect its citizens and health security for its people and those residing on its land, she said “I totally reject the government’s decision to review these measures, and our decisions should not be subject to any political threats.” She added, “Our health security is on a danger line. Let the government take full responsibility, and bring a certificate that expats entering in Kuwait are free from coronavirus, and I still repeat my request. And and present who has leaves Kuwait there is no return for them into Kuwait.”

MP Omar Al-Tabtabai said, “I was surprised by the government’s reversal of its decision to conduct a PCR examination for people coming from some countries. Unless the government comes out with a clear explanation and a specific mechanism that justifies canceling this decision, which has an impact on the health of the people of Kuwait, the government and its president will bear the responsibility for this decision.”

In turn, MP Nayef Almrdas blamed the government for the responsibility and said, “The health security of Kuwaitis and expats are in danger, and we must continue to compel the expatriates who come to Kuwait to bring health certificate that they are free from infections of COVID 19 and not to bow to political pressure.”
