More than 60 complaints received

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has warned an office specialized in selling luxury cars to either pay all the claims owed to its customers or be subjected to a regulatory and legal enquiry for violations, reports Al-Rai daily. The ministry took this step after receiving more than 60 complaints against the office concerning its failure to fulfill its obligations with its customers who contracted to buy cars from it. According to informed sources, a large group of citizens contracted with the office to buy luxury cars after they were offered discounts worth more than 30 percent of the cars’ market value, with the aim of encouraging them.

However, after the deadline for receiving the contracted cars elapsed, the complainants demanded their purchase, but the company requested more time under the pretext that the arrival of the shipment had been disrupted for logistical reasons. One after the other, more than 60 people complained to the office, accusing it of failing to fulfill its obligations.

While the sources did not reveal the financial value of the total complaints, they clarified that the claims of one of the customers ranged between KD 250,000 and KD 300,000. The sources stated that officials in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry had warned the office’s owners to fulfill the deal as soon as possible or return the sums obtained or prepare to be subjected to regulatory and legal accountability. They indicated that the process has already begun to address some complaints, but so far the claims have not yet been filed by all the customers
