KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan chaired a meeting on Wednesday, confirming her commitment to overseeing the preparations for the upcoming rainy season. She highlighted the Ministry of Public Works and the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation's efforts to coordinate with other relevant authorities to ensure smooth operations during the season.
Following the meeting with government agencies involved in rainy season preparedness, Dr. Al-Mishaan emphasized the ministry's focus on increasing field teams across various locations to swiftly manage rainwater pooling in coordination with multiple agencies. She urged citizens and residents to help maintain the cleanliness of rainwater drainage areas and avoid littering in the streets to ensure the efficient operation of drainage systems.
During the meeting, the minister was briefed on the progress of maintenance teams, including the cleaning of rainwater drainage systems and preparations at pumping stations. The discussion centered on the necessary steps to prevent malfunctions during heavy rains and swiftly address emergencies to ensure traffic flow remains unaffected.
Additionally, the meeting focused on implementing urgent solutions to mitigate rain-related accidents and emphasized the importance of unifying efforts across government agencies to protect individuals and property. Preventive measures were discussed to ensure public safety and minimize risks during the rainy season.
A representative from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's Meteorology Department provided a weather forecast for the coming period. The meeting was attended by a range of government bodies, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Civil Defense, National Guard, Kuwait Municipality, Kuwait Fire Force, Kuwait Oil Company, and several others involved in rainy season management.
