KUWAIT CITY, July 15: Personnel from the General Investigation Department have detained six male Asian nurses working for government hospitals for turning their apartments into ‘clinics’ to offer illegal services and terminate illegal pregnancies, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to security sources, as soon as personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department received reports about the illegal activity, they sent a secret agent and requested help to abort the fetus following which a trap was set and the men were caught in the act.

When police raided the apartment the six nurses were ‘at work’ and police found in the apartment a huge quantity of medicines.

During interrogation they have reportedly admitted to the charge. They have been referred to the concerned authorities for interrogation and legal action.

Worker electrocuted: A 1988-born Syrian expatriate died in Wafra Farm Area due to electric shock after the crane driven by his compatriot hit a high voltage line.

According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information about the incident, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location to discover the victim had died. The corpse was referred to the Forensics Department. Investigations revealed that the victim died when the crane hit the high voltage line.

Wanted man nabbed: A 1983-born Kuwaiti citizen Mulheim Abdullatif, who is wanted by law over cases filed against him for issuance of dud cheques and for the enforcement of imprisonment sentences of up to 12 years, was arrested in Mahboula area.

In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the department explained that detectives carried out intensive investigations after receiving information about the suspect’s involvement in several cases as well as the arrest orders issued against him.

They discovered that the total number of jail terms issued against him reached 12 years and 2 years for issuance of dud cheques and for betrayal of trust. He was also ordered to pay a debt worth KD 74,000.

The department revealed that the detectives, after taking necessary measures, arrested him in a trap in his house in Mahboula area and referred him to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.
