Kuwaiti teenager fools elderly for gifts, cash

KUWAIT CITY, May 22:Police have arrested a 17-year-old Kuwaiti for swindling elderly men by impersonating a woman and speaking in a female voice, reports Al-Shahed daily.

A security source said the suspect fooled the victims while chatting on the Internet website, lured old men with promises of love and took presents and cash from them. The suspect would not turn up but ask the victims to leave the present at a certain place.

One of the victims filed a complaint and police set a trap and arrested the suspect when ‘she’ came to collect the gift from a parking lot of the Ahmadi Cooperative Society. He has been handed over to the authorities.

Asian held with liquor: An Asian expatriate was arrested in Hassawi area for violating the residency law and possessing 44 bottles of locally manufactured liquor, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, when Private Taskforce officers were patrolling Hassawi area at night, they suspected a man opening the trunk of his vehicle and placing some heavy black bags into it. As soon as the man noticed the officers, he tried to run away but he was caught. They checked the bags to discover 44 bottles of locally manufactured liquor. He was arrested and referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authorities for further investigations.
