KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9: Volleyball Federation President Dr. Jaber Al-Merri extended his gratitude to the Public Authority for Sport for its recent decision to increase financial support for sports federations. He noted that this move reflects the Authority’s commitment to meeting the federations’ needs and strengthening their ability to fulfill their responsibilities.
Dr. Al-Merri explained that the previous budget did not provide federations with adequate flexibility, whereas the increased funding will now enable each federation to implement its programs and strategies more effectively.
He confirmed that the Volleyball Federation will channel the additional support into developing its structure, with a focus on enhancing human resources as the foundation of the federation’s work. Plans include partnering with advanced European academies to train young talents who will form the core of future national teams.
He also revealed that the federation is considering sending distinguished players abroad to refine their skills, aiming to build a strong pipeline that will reinforce national teams in the long run.
Dr. Al-Merri highlighted the federation’s recent transition from paper-based procedures to a fully electronic registration system via the official website, supported by a modern database that ensures faster and more efficient access to information.
He noted that the federation’s efforts in strengthening national teams have already borne fruit, with the team winning the bronze medal at the Arab Challenge Cup—an achievement not seen in many years.
Concluding his remarks, Dr. Al-Merri stressed the importance of using the newly allocated budget wisely to further develop the federation’s operations and achieve its strategic objectives.
