Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior called on motorists to adhere to traffic safety guidelines during rainfall. In a press statement, the ministry stressed the importance of avoiding braking suddenly and maintaining a safe distance between vehicles. It urged citizens and residents to monitor weather warnings, ensure their vehicles’ tires are in good condition, use windshield wipers, drive below the speed limit, and avoid driving through flooded areas It emphasized the necessity of not using mobile phones while driving and advised contacting the emergency number No. 112 for assistance. It is worth highlighting that the Meteorological Department had predicted on Tuesday that rain of varying intensities, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, would continue until Thursday, December 11, and that there is a chance of fog until Wednesday morning in some areas.
The acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dhirar Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that weather maps, numerical models, and satellite images indicate that Kuwait will be affected until the end of Thursday by an extension of a deep surface low-pressure system in the upper atmosphere. He indicated the spread of low and medium-level clouds, interspersed with cumulonimbus clouds, and the possibility of scattered rain, sometimes with thunder, ranging from light to moderate.
Al-Ali explained that the rain could be heavy at times in some areas, starting late Wednesday evening and continuing intermittently until Thursday evening. Horizontal visibility would be reduced during periods of rainfall, with continued chances of fog formation in some areas during the morning and evening hours. The winds will be mostly southeasterly to variable in direction, light to moderate in speed, occasionally becoming strong, and shifting to northerly and northwesterly starting Wednesday afternoon.
